Why we built this

Christmas Tree Farm Finder exists for one simple reason; there was no single, honest, up-to-date directory of the small family farms that keep the American Christmas tradition alive. Search engines return chain lots and paid ads; social feeds show the same three photos of the same three farms in every state. We built this site to fix that. Every farm listed here is a real, working grower with an address you can drive to, a phone you can call, and, in many cases, a story that goes back three or four generations.

The founding team grew up on and around family farms in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Oregon. We remember the smell of the field on a cold Saturday morning; the sound of a small chainsaw on the far edge of the pines; the rickety flatbed hauling ten-foot Frasers back to the wrapping station. We wanted a directory that felt like that experience; specific, practical, and made by people who care whether you go home with a good tree.

Our editorial approach

We source initial listings from Google Places, then cross-check every farm against its own website or a phone call before publishing. Hours, tree species, opening weekends, and cash-or-card notes are refreshed at the start of every season. When a farm owner claims a listing, we verify the claim by email or phone and mark the farm as verified on the site. Verified farms may edit their own hours, species list, and photo gallery through a simple owner dashboard.

We publish four long-form blog posts a week during the season; each is checked for factual accuracy against USDA data, university extension services, and interviews with working growers. When we get something wrong, we correct it and note the change at the top of the article; corrections stay in place for the life of the post.

How we choose which farms to feature

Featured farms rise to the top of state pages based on a blend of signals; verification status, the completeness of the listing, whether the farm offers choose-and-cut, and the volume of positive reviews across public review platforms. We do not accept payment for featured placement. A featured farm on this site is featured because the data says it earns the spot; if you paid for that placement, you would learn nothing about which farm to visit.

What we don't do

We do not run behavioral ads, we do not sell your email, and we do not scrape reviews from other platforms and pass them off as our own. The ratings you see come directly from Google's public API with proper attribution to the original reviewers. We do not require an account to search, save, or share any farm; the entire directory is free to use and always will be.

Our commitment to farmers

A working Christmas tree farm is a decade-long bet. A grower plants a seedling in the spring of year one and hopes for a family to walk into the field in December of year eight. In the meantime they shear, they fertilize, they battle deer and drought; they hold the land together against the pressure to sell to a developer. We think that work deserves visibility, respect, and a directory that sends real customers to real farms. If you are a grower reading this and you would like your farm added or corrected, we will get to it inside a week during the season and inside a month at any other time of year.
